Roots
Rob-Low became fascinated by taking things a part and breaking them down when he could barely walk. His fascination, coupled with a love of Rap & Hip-Hop lead him to breaking down and constructing smooth blends as a DJ. Inspired by greats like Incredible June, DJ Casper Rock, Jazzy Jeff, Kid Capri, Jay Boogie and Ron G., just to name a few.
The gift of spinning records is in Rob-Low’s blood. His father was Bronx Rapper and Deejay Master Rob. Although his father was his biggest inspiration, he also had other encouragers in his life. He was dubbed Rob-Low by a local rap artist K-Off because of his low-key demeanor. K-Off was a close friend of Low’s uncle Incredible June. It was his Uncle June that gave him his first set-up. He was 8 years old when he received a pair of Gemini belt-driven turntables and a wood-grain Pyramid mixer.
At the age of 16, Rob-Low began to take the DJ game seriously. Low began moving the crowd in his stomping grounds of the Boogie Down Bronx. Lugging 6 crates of records and a pair of upgraded Gemini Turntable and mixer system Low rocked parties in spots like Jenzies, Side Street, Crystal Lounge, Club Nightlife, Playtime Lounge and Sam’s Lounge. Most recently Low showed his diversity as he spun the pop kings and queens at Club Déjà Vu in Garfield, NJ. Low can always be found mixing things up at private parties throughout New York City and New Jersey.
Rob-Low has lent his voice to mixtapes for hot up and coming artists like Street Envy’s Lethal "The Prince of Da X"and Jay Terror, Win Win Global’s X2. Recently Low hosted “The Year of The Priest” mix tape for Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Judah Priest. He also hosted the mixtape titled “Beast of the Streets Volume I” for unsigned talent Mista Shano from Houston, Texas. Low teamed up with DJ Mighty Mike to bring you that cris ragga and hip-hop mixtape series Clash of the Titans Vol. 1.
