Native
Wellz born Wayne Thompson was raised in the streets of Southside inner
City of Syracuse, N.Y. is where this Lyrical Genius started his journey.
His childhood was full of struggle with losing his mother to cancer
when he was 8 years old and having his father in and out of jail
throughout his life. He bounced around from family members' house to
house including the streets, it literally took a village to raise this
child into a man. His saving grace to keep him from following in his
father's footsteps was sports, specifically football. Native Wellz
became well known for his athletic talents, scoring him championships
and having the top schools/universities in the nation wanting a piece on
the phenomenon. Unfortunately, poor academic success deterred his
collegiate football opportunities at a top division 1 institution.
Thinking that all hope was lost, he began to give up and turn to the
misguided streets of his hometown. Then God sent one of his special
angels to intervene and bring Wayne back into the light. Ginny Donahue,
founder of ON POINT for COLLEGE, helped him back on the right path.
Determined not to become another statistic, he gave education another
chance to help achieve his aspirations of going into professional
football. Wellz landed at Buffalo State College, a division III
institution. Having become the starting tailback on the team, he once
again was on his golden path he was once before. He focused on academics
and physical training with music, giving him the motivation to strive
for better. He felt music told his stories of pain, struggle,
inspiration and hope he needed to keep his dreams alive. It was part of
his life. One day a moment changed his life again. During a scrimmage
practice, he sustained a torn AC injury on his right shoulder. Another
bump in the road, he underwent rehabilitation to recover. Worried the
season started without him, he entered the game early. One cold Saturday
afternoon, Native geared up for the game. Then came a play that would
redirect his path, he got hit on the same injured shoulder which would
cause him to sit out for the rest of the season. A fork in his road and a
family of his own counting on him, Native made the difficult decision
to step away from football and school altogether. An opportunity to
follow his fiancee career in Occupational Therapy brought Native and his
family to Virginia and began his journey to recovery of his right
shoulder.
After
months and months of treatment and gradual training, Native was back in
shape and better than ever so he decided to give passion football one
more shot with music not too far behind. Native landed in Redskins
territory for a short while until an opportunity in Florida would bring
him a step closer to a dream. He was called down to Tampa, FL for a
tryout and landed a position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After a good
run, yet another injury would end his football career.
Native
Wellz then became absorbed by music to dull the pain of his misfortune
and rage. After grieving his losses, he began to see the light with
music through talents of his younger brother and close family/friends.
Native Wells loved to make music but at heart he was businessman, he
focused on trying to bring good music to the Tampa Bay area and created
PowerStreet Entertainment. He started to bring artist together to create
an empire of greatness. He set out to create and build connections to
spread various music talents to the people. Music began to call his name
into the game, not only in the business aspect.
His
street smarts, business savvy and lyrical talents have brought him to
meet music greats including team members of Dj Khaled, Justice League,
Cash Money and Bad Boy. This time the light shines bright on NativeWellz
the Lyrical Genius. Realizing that he this lyrical gift Native Wellz
